Are We Good At Change?

I think I am a bit of both. I first thought about becoming a business coach to women over the age of 45 3 years ago, although it was just an embryo of an idea then, a bit like a puff of smoke that kept blowing in and out of my subconscious mind.

I wanted to do it, I knew it was needed and I want to make a difference to women over the age of 45 who yearn to change their lives. Get us all together, talking to each other because we often believe we are the only person over 45 who hasn’t “made it” and that’s simply not true!

BUT, my wedding planning business was doing OK, I had just moved back to the UK from Spain, life was comfortable, familiar, happily chugging along……. as we all do.

Hmmmm, there was that puff of smoke again!

Eventually I knew I couldn’t ignore it so FINALLY I started to take action, it wasn’t easy to get myself out of my rut but I am so glad I have!  I feel excited, energised and unbelievably optimistic.

I think embracing change is a good thing and it definitely shows your determination and drive to get your life where you want it to be.

Why Women Over 45 Make Great Entrepreneurs

  1. You are EXPERIENCED and have life skills.  You can think on our feet and problem solve whether you have had to deal with a burst pipe at home or because someone in your team at work has let you down, you are able to react positively under pressure.
  2. You have CONFIDENCE.  You know yourself and understand your strengths and weaknesses which a fantastic advantage for an entrepreneur.
  3. You have brilliant TIME MANAGEMENT and don’t waste time.  All your adult life you have juggled work, home, family life, organised holidays, shopping, school runs and so much more.  The only way you have achieved a life balance is because you have learned good time management.
  4. You already have an established NETWORK.  Through your past career, family, and friends you will have a contact or recommendation for every aspect of your business. You will not need to spend weeks and weeks researching for the people you will need because you already have the information available to you.
  5. MONEY. You understand money, you know how to budget you have been doing this all your adult life, understanding your income vs your outgoings.  It is a natural thought process for you and something younger entrepreneurs do not understand yet.
  6. You are a brilliant COMMUNICATOR.   You grew up speaking to other people!  You did not have your nose constantly on your mobile phone because you didn’t have one!  You know how to speak to other people and clearly relate the message you want to give. This will make you an easy choice for your Ideal Client.
  7. You don’t COMPARE.  Younger budding entrepreneurs spend hours looking at their potential competitors and comparing themselves.  This is such a waste of time and gives a negative mindset. You have learned there is no point in doing that, you will stay focused, on your own path to success and will not be distracted.

5 Tips to Ensure Sales

Sales are all important to success and growth for your company.  If you have lots of interest in your product or service but you still don’t seem to be getting the sales the following 5 tips should help:

  1. Be different from your competitors, adapt your sales pitch so you stand out from the crowd.
  2. Start your sales pitch with an open question that will overcome an objection.
  3. Highlight the benefits of buying from you, not the features you offer to keep your pitch short and to the point, if you are too long-winded your ideal client will lose interest.
  4. Tell a story through the sales process, keep it conversational and not formal so your ideal client is on a journey until you get them to the point of sale
  5. ASK FOR THE ORDER! So many people tell their ideal client what they are selling, how good it would be for them, give clients all sorts of stats and then don’t ask for the order.  ALWAYS CLOSE THE SALE otherwise all you are having is a nice chat with someone!
